No matter the weather, this tropical flavoured smoothie is just what you need to add some sunshine into your home. Naturally sweetened and absolutely delicious, this strawberry pineapple smoothie makes a wonderful breakfast, snack or dessert with no refined sugar, and only 5 simple ingredients.

With no added sugar and a nice boost of protein from hemp hearts (that you’ll never guess are in there) this will easily become your go-to smoothie recipe.

It’s gorgeous colour is visually appealing, and it’s packed with nutrients and vitamins including 8g of protein and tons of vitamins A & C.

You really need to try this strawberry pineapple smoothie. It’s like dessert in a glass. And hey, if you want to add a splash of vodka in there and make it a cocktail, I’m not judging!

This recipe, like most smoothies is super simple to make, and it’s customizable too.

How to make a strawberry pineapple smoothie

Gather your ingredients. You may use fresh or frozen fruit, or a combo of both. So whatever you have on hand will be great.

Add all your ingredients into your blender and process until smooth. (photos 1-2)

NOTE: If you’re using a high speed blender, you should have no problem getting your ingredients creamy and smooth in no time. If your blender is struggling with frozen fruit, just add a little more milk or water to get it going.

Garnish your smoothie with a slice of fresh pineapple or a fresh strawberry to add an extra layer of “tropical-ness” if you’d like, and enjoy!

Expert Tips & Tricks

Depending on the ratio of fresh or frozen fruit, you may need to adjust the liquid quantity. Fresh fruit is easier to blend and naturally has more liquid, so use only half a cup of plant milk with all fresh fruit. Add more milk as needed when using frozen fruit.
Frozen fruit will give thicker, creamier results, but fresh fruit also works well, as the banana will slightly thicken your strawberry pineapple smoothie.
For extra slush and to thicken your drink when using fresh fruit, add a handful of ice cubes. Skip when using frozen fruit.
If you do not have hemp hearts, you may sub for a tablespoon of flax seeds, ground flax, chia seeds, or even a nut butter such as almond or peanut butter.
For extra sweetness, add 1-2 pitted dates or a teaspoon of maple or date syrup. I find this smoothie to be plenty sweet as is, but if you like it extra sweet, make it to your liking.
If you don’t have pineapple, mango also works well as a replacement. Raspberries or cherries will work to sub the strawberries if you don’t have any on hand.
